After some long talks with our clients after their wedding, we have started creating a list of top things you definitely should Not do as a married couple. If you're interested in an effortlessly happy marriage, these tips can definitely help!
1. Don’t Stop Dating
Just because you’re married doesn’t mean that your significant other does not deserve to be wined and dined (hey, we all do!) Keep going to your favorite restaurant or go paint the town and find some place new! If you’re looking for something different and exciting head over to livingsocial.com or groupon.com to see what date you two can pull off for a discount!
2. Don’t QuitHanging with your Friends
They love you and trust us, they’ll miss you if you don’t make time for them. Plan a group outing (or an innie) to catch up and reminisce about the good ol’ days. Eat delicious food, play good music and have fun. Soon these kind of days spent with them will turn into “the good ol’ days” so make it memorable!
3. Don’t Stop Playing
Don’t become married old farts just yet (or ever!). Do the things that make you happy. Be the guy she fell in love with. Be the girl he couldn’t live without.
4. Don’t Stop Praying
Whatever religious/spiritual background you have, put aside some quiet-time to pray or meditate together to reflect on your day. We know each couple is different but we encourage you to put the phone down, turn the TV off and tune in to each other. Read to each other, pray together, sing together, yoga together…whatever feels right to your soul, do that.
5. Don’t Be Afraid to Meet New People
It’s an awesome feeling to be able to connect with others who share a similar path as you do. We created a Facebook group, Married in Maryland, designed for engaged and married couples where we can swap stories, share encouragement and volunteer advice. It's a great community to be apart of and we're always excited to meet new members. We may even be doing some group outings this year, we'll see ;)
Welp, that's our Top 5! We don't believe that anything worthwhile is effortless, but if we can make the people around us happier and help them live a better life, than we are all for it!
