Earlier this month we shared an In Home Engagement Session and today we’re excited to share Tiff and Josh’s Engagement Session which just so happens to be…Yes, you guessed it!
An In-Home Engagement Session.
So not only are we sharing some of our favorite photos from their session but we wanted to share the Top Benefits of Having an In-Home Engagement Session for those of you wondering if you want to go this route.
So Let’s get Right into it…
Skip the Crowd
One of our couples main concerns with planning a public engagement session is the amount of people that will be around when they are displaying affection towards each other. For some couples it is incredibly uncomfortable being that intimate with so many people around. We do our best to plan engagement sessions at times where less people are around but of course this isn’t something we can control completely in a public setting. Also it works out better in our benefit as photographers/editors, when we don’t have to crop or clone strangers out of your favorite photos.
Familiar Setting
How tranquil is it to just sit in your favorite spot and relax with your loved one? The best right? Imagine what those photos must look and feel like :) Plus this is a great excuse to clean and jazz up your home to make it picture perfect (or not, keeping it authentically yours is also great for photos).
If you’re a home body (like me lol) and love your home than this is a great option for an engagement session.
Our client’s are in charge of choosing when and where their session will be. Of course, we give recommendations but we always recommend choosing a place that is sentimental to them.
Controlled Atmosphere
Not only do you not have to worry about strangers invading your photo background but you can also control the temperature and lighting a lot more when you’re at home. This is especially useful for those who get too cold or hot and sweaty easily.
This is also super helpful if you want to include your Baby or pet in your photos without them having the anxiety of being somewhere new and distracting. This is what our couple here did with their Newborn. He was able to be relaxed and happy throughout the session while Mommy and Daddy still had some intimate time to themselves.
No pups in this engagement session. but Josh and Tiff loved that they could include their newborn in these photos! Baby CJ was kept very comfortable throughout the whole session and even had a little friend to keep him company (will definitely be posting a behind the scenes blog soon!).
More Time for Intimacy
Since your working with less space than a bog public setting, you’ll have more time in one designated area of choice and we can work more intimately with you as a couple on finding the best poses and activities for your photos.
If you choose to do a Save the Date video along with your engagement session, we have a little more wiggle room to work with in the comfort of your home.
Personal Details
Some couples love including props or details to their photo session to make their photos more personable. And what place has more personal details about the two of you than your own home :)
Matching Home Decor
Many couples print their engagement photos to be displayed in their home. Some even go so far as to match their outfits to match their home’s interior design. With an in-home engagement session, your photos will completely match the aesthetic of your home because it will be right from the source.
Endless Outfit Options
Since your home with your wardrobe just steps away, You can change into how many outfits you would like during your time slot. We typically recommend 1-2 outfits during your session but since your home feel free to do whatever speaks to you. We know it’s hard choosing! (Maybe this blog here can help)
Tiff and Josh changed outfits once throughout their session with us. Being home with a baby allowed them some extra time and grace with the change. We couldn’t imagine doing this session any more comfortable than here. Baby CJ was so content the whole time and our couple had some breathing room that is extremely valuable when your new parents.
Cheat Code: Oh Hey, you’re still here! Ok, so love the idea of having an In-home session but not really feeling the idea of having it at your home. No worries, we know some great homes that you can rent or if you know someone who’s house you love, dont be too shy to ask them if you can use their home for your engagement session. Chances are they will be sincerely flattered and honored to lend you their home for an hour or two :)
