Featuring Tyra & Kirklan
Captured by your favorite Black husband and wife wedding photography team in Baltimore
Some love stories are meant to unfold in the most nostalgic corners of a city, and Fells Point in Baltimore sets the perfect stage. As Baltimore wedding photographers, we often find ourselves drawn to this historic waterfront neighborhood—where cobblestone streets, vintage storefronts, and warm sunlight come together to create timeless imagery.
Tyra and Kirklan’s engagement session felt like a sweet morning poem to love and intention. They made a few smart choices that not only enhanced their experience but also elevated the final photographs—and we’re excited to share those tips with future couples considering a Fells Point engagement session of their own.
1. Arrive Early for the Best Light & Fewer Crowds
Our session began just after sunrise when the streets were still quiet and the sun cast a soft golden glow. If you're planning your session in a popular spot like Fells Point, arriving early is key to catching the best light—and having the charming streets all to yourselves.
2. Call Ahead for Indoor Locations
Tyra and Kirklan had their hearts set on Penny Black Bar—a spot recommended by a friend. With a quick call ahead, they ensured a smooth and respectful experience. If you want indoor shots, a little advance notice can go a long way in making everyone feel at ease.
3. Keep It Light (Literally)
Our style as a Black husband and wife wedding photography team is intentionally cinematic and movement-based. For this shoot, we relied entirely on natural light—creating images that felt as real as the love we were witnessing.
4. Dress to Contrast the Cityscape
Tyra and Kirklan chose light-toned outfits that stood out beautifully against the rich bricks and neutral tones of the area. A simple styling tip: contrast the background, and you’ll instantly elevate the visual impact of your images.
5. Trial Your Wedding Make-Up
This was such a smart move—Tyra used her complimentary bridal make-up trial for this session. It gave her confidence, and it gave us a chance to capture what her wedding-day look might feel like in photos.
6. Stay Local & Walkable
They selected two nearby locations within walking distance—including the iconic Sound Garden record store—allowing for a wide variety of backdrops in just a one-hour session.
7. Be Smart (and Stylish) with Your Shoes
Pro tip from Tyra: bring a pair of walking shoes to navigate those charming but bumpy cobblestone streets. She kept her heels clean and her feet happy.
8. Infuse Your Personality
We had so much fun chatting with them about their favorite artists while flipping through vinyl records. Whether it’s music, coffee, or books—build your session around something that reflects you.
9. Add Meaningful Details
One of our favorite personal touches? Tyra had their wedding date painted on her nails. When we zoomed in to capture her engagement ring, that sweet little detail made for a perfect Save-the-Date image.
As a Baltimore wedding photographer, we believe in creating space for love stories to breathe. Whether you’re newly engaged or planning your forever, we want you to remember more than just the way your day looked—we want you to remember how it felt.
If you’re looking for an intentional, soulful, and experience-driven session with a Black husband and wife wedding photography team who care about legacy as much as love—we’d be honored to connect.
