This past weekend, we had the incredible honor of documenting a surprise proposal just outside the Canopy by Hilton Baltimore Harbor Point.
What made this proposal even more meaningful was that it wasn't just another client—it was family.
Watching our cousin, Kara, realize what was happening is a moment we'll never forget.
The afternoon began like any other outing along Baltimore's beautiful waterfront. Elliott had carefully planned every detail, leading Kara toward the harbor under the guise of a normal day together. As they reached the perfect spot overlooking the water, everything changed.
With the Baltimore skyline behind them and the harbor quietly reflecting the afternoon light, Elliott got down on one knee.
The look of surprise on Kara's face quickly turned into tears of joy.
As husband and wife proposal photographers and videographers, Garrett and I spend a lot of time anticipating moments like these. We watch through our lenses as nerves become excitement, excitement becomes emotion, and two lives begin an entirely new chapter together.
But this proposal felt different.
Standing behind the camera while watching someone you love experience one of the happiest moments of her life is something words can hardly describe.
A Celebration Surrounded by Family
Once Kara said "yes," another surprise was waiting.
Their closest family members emerged from nearby, filling the harbor with hugs, laughter, tears, and heartfelt congratulations. It was one of those rare moments where everyone present shared in the same overwhelming joy.
These are the memories that photographs are made for.
Not just the proposal itself—but the embraces afterward, the smiles through happy tears, and the realization that everyone you love has been cheering you on all along.
The Celebration Continued at La Jetée
The surprises weren't over just yet.
After the proposal, Elliott led everyone to La Jetée, where another celebration awaited. Family and friends gathered to toast the newly engaged couple, sharing stories, laughter, and excitement for everything that lies ahead.It was the perfect ending to an already unforgettable day—a reminder that engagements aren't simply about asking a question.They're about celebrating the beginning of forever.
