Black Love
is a concept that you hear more and more every day. The most interesting thing about it to me is that everyone has their own personal definition for the term.
For our Couple, Michael and Michelle, they wanted to share their definition with their closest friends and family by using it as the centerpiece of their wedding celebration. They not only exemplify Black Love in their union but their whole day was crafted and designed by this concept.
They included aspects that not only had “Black Love” on them but actually incorporated African American practices into their ceremony like jumping the broom and loving on all of their family members. Their color scheme was clean and natural and their decor was elegant and rich with soul.
We were lucky to spend the full day with these two and even did a Video Highlight Reel with them that can be viewed here:
They started their day traditionally in 2 separate locations. Michael was at home getting ready with his boys while Michelle was getting hair and make-up done with the girls! Her girls decorated the room with balloons and glitter and they snaked on boozy cupcakes and champagne before they slipped into their dresses.
Once they were both ready
they headed to the 2941 Restaurant to start their ceremony. They both had a chance to see the space full decorated. They saw their guest take their seats outside and then as the music began they made their way out to begin the ceremony.
After the ceremony, we stole them away for some Bride and Groom Portraits before their guests could see them. The 2941 had some great locations available for photos that included some stunning architecture, a waterfall with koi and plenty of lush green trees.
The reception started
shortly after the family photos and we went right into high gear capturing all of the best moments from the reception! We absolutely love this space and the food looked delicious. (Benefits of having your wedding at a restaurant, we’ll have to stop by one night and treat ourselves to dinner)
They danced
with their family member and stopped by each table to greet their guests. Before the night was over they went outside for some creative shots with us.
Thank you so much
Michelle and Michael for hiring a black husband and wife wedding photography team. We absolutely love themed weddings like this and it was absolute pleasure shooting with you!
We hope these photos inspire other couples who want to have a Black Love themed wedding.
