Some traditions are worth keeping.
For years, Victoria and Phil have celebrated their anniversary by investing in professional photographs together. We've had the privilege of documenting their story since before any of us had children, and watching our families grow alongside one another has been one of the greatest joys of our journey.
This year's session took place at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC, where their anniversary tradition naturally evolved into a beautiful family session.
One thing we always make time for is photographing Victoria and Phil by themselves. While the little ones play nearby (often with our own daughter joining in), we create space for Mom and Dad to simply reconnect. Because before they were parents, they were partners and those moments deserve to be celebrated, too. Then we invite the children in.
Some of our favorite photographs aren't perfectly posed.
They're the in-between moments…the laughter, little adventures through the gallery, tiny hands reaching for Mom and Dad, and the joyful energy that makes every family unique. We also love capturing individual portraits because childhood changes in the blink of an eye.
One day they're in your arms. The next, they're tying their own shoes and discovering the world on their own.
That's why we admire couples like Victoria and Phil, who intentionally make time every year to preserve this season of life. They're creating more than beautiful photographs. They're creating a legacy their family will treasure for generations.
