Mary Ella and Adam brilliantly executed our favorite unconventional wedding concept.
Amidst the pandemic, they opted for a cozy destination elopement, but still desired to celebrate their union with friends and family back home. To mark the occasion, they organized a spectacular music festival by the Chesapeake Bay, featuring local bands, a never-ending BBQ, and free-flowing drinks!
The setting was incredibly open, with a massive tent, a field encircled by trees, and a pier that led out to the bay. Upon arrival, the couple welcomed guests and invited them to the tent to appreciate art and grab a drink before the ceremony commenced.
When the ceremony was about to start, everyone gathered around the property's largest tree, planted by the bride's grandfather years ago. Since Mary Ella and Adam were already married and had exchanged rings, they chose to do something unique instead of the traditional ring exchange. They playfully exchanged chicken wings, which delighted their guests as a signature move and a genuine expression of love. The couple then shared a kiss and danced down the aisle, surrounded by their loved ones.
Following the ceremony,
we captured fun family photos with the grandfather's tree in the background. Then, we took snaps of the newlyweds as the first band began setting up. Conscious of their desire to enjoy the festival with friends, we didn't take up too much of their time.
When the couple returned to the tent, their MC for the night, a fabulous drag queen, entertained the guests and introduced the first band. This unique choice of MC was a perfect fit for the evening. As the band played, everyone enjoyed BBQ and drinks, while Mary Ella and Adam mingled and thanked each guest for attending.
As the sun set,
we took a few more portraits of the couple on the pier. They expressed immense gratitude, and we assured them it was our pleasure to be part of such a beautiful and momentous event.
The night was filled with revelry and joy! We even took some food home with us (as encouraged) and exchanged warm hugs with the couple before departing.
Thank you guys for having us!
Love Deeply,
Megan + Garrett
