This one is for the Brides and Photographers
If you’re a Bride who wants beautiful detail photos of all of their precious heirlooms to remember forever, here are a few things that you can do to ensure that your photographer gets everything. If you’re a photographer, listen up, these tips will help you get it done efficiently and effectively every time.
Organize Your Details
The whole shooting process goes by a lot faster if the Bride has everything all together before the photographer arrives. I always encourage my brides to keep as many details as possible in their shoebox. This is just to ensure that everything is all together and not missing in action when she’s trying to get her make-up done. Items that you can fit in the shoebox are jewelry, invitation suite, garter, hair accessories, your “something old”, and any knick knacks that you would like included in your detail photos (you can keep your veil out so that it doesn’t get wrinkled).
Find a Unique Backdrop
I like to use a background that reflects the theme of the day. Whether it’s the custom tile on the hotel floor or on the anchor of the cruise ship that your sailing on to your destination wedding. I love to include this in part of your day so when you look back on the photos you can feel the atmosphere and be instantly transported back to that wonderful day.
Brides: Allow your photographer a clean space to work with.
Find Bomb Lighting
Of course Natural Light is the best but if you’re in a position where no natural light is available, make sure you have the tools you need to imitate natural light.
Brides: Make sure that your photographer can not only shoot natural light photography but also night time photography with flash.
Clean Symmetrical Assembly
Play around with your accessories placement before you start shooting. Place your key items down first and then build around those key items. Make sure that all of your details are aligned, have equal spacing between items and are symmetrical because our eyes prefer to look at items that are neatly arranged. It’s ok to be a little OCD right now.
Share your Shot
Before you dissemble your detail stage ask the videographer if they would like to take a video clip of what you have made already so that the video can match your beautiful photographs. if you’re looking for a Videographer, CHECK THIS OUT.
BONUS TIP: Bring Your Own Details
This one is for the photographers. If you go to a lot of weddings like us you start to think of different things that you wish you had….so now I just have my own detail box that have lots of cool knick knacks that I can help beef up my photos. Check out the video to see what’s in my box and why this box is suuuuuuuuper important!
