A Shabbat Celebration to Kick Off a Wedding Weekend at Ramah Darom | Georgia Family Photography

There’s something incredibly special about beginning a wedding weekend with Shabbat—a sacred time that brings Jewish families together to pause, reflect, and celebrate their traditions. For Susan and Daniel, hosting their family at Ramah Darom for this meaningful evening set the tone for their extended wedding weekend, and it was an honor to capture the moments that made it unforgettable.

The Beauty and Significance of Shabbat

Shabbat, the Jewish day of rest, is much more than a tradition; it’s a time to pause from the busyness of life, connect with loved ones, and reflect on what truly matters. It’s a moment to light the candles, say blessings, share a meal, and embrace the values of community and togetherness. For Susan and Daniel’s family, Shabbat was the perfect way to not only honor their faith but also set the foundation for the joyous celebrations ahead.

Ramah Darom: A Place of Tradition and Connection

Nestled in Clayton, Georgia, Ramah Darom provided a breathtaking setting for this family’s Shabbat. Known for its deep roots in Jewish tradition, this 185-acre kosher campus inspires connection, community, and lifelong love for Jewish values. Visiting in the autumn meant the property was alive with the vibrant hues of fall foliage, making it even more enchanting.

Surrounded by the golden and crimson tones of the season, Susan and Daniel’s family gathered to share in this sacred moment. Out of respect for Shabbat, we refrained from using any electronics or taking photos during the evening, honoring the sanctity of their time together. Instead, we were able to quietly witness the warmth and joy that filled the space.

A Morning of Fellowship and Connection

The next morning, the family gathered for a leisurely breakfast. It was a chance to continue the spirit of Shabbat, sharing fellowship, laughter, and meaningful conversation. The freshly prepared meal fueled them for the adventure that followed—a hike through Ramah Darom’s scenic woods to the property’s iconic waterfall. This natural wonder became the backdrop for family photos, bringing together the beauty of their surroundings with the love and connection they shared.

A Perfect Start to a Wedding Weekend

Beginning Susan and Daniel’s wedding weekend with Shabbat wasn’t just a nod to tradition; it was a way to ground their celebrations in faith, love, and community. It allowed everyone to pause, reconnect, and appreciate the blessings of the moment before diving into the excitement of the days ahead.

And how about that hike to the waterfall as part of wedding prep? Truly one-of-a-kind! We’ll be sharing more about those family photos and the magic of their wedding weekend in the next blog, so stay tuned.

As photographers, our goal is to document not just the big moments, but the ones that make a wedding weekend truly special. While we stepped back to honor the sanctity of Shabbat, we were deeply inspired by the love, tradition, and connection that filled the air. Susan and Daniel’s family created a celebration that was as meaningful as it was beautiful, and we’re so grateful to have been part of it.
