Black Lives Matter Senior Session | Maryland Family Photographer

2020 will go down in history as the year that changed everything

Which is why I was so excited to do this Senior Session because not only is it History but it’s Her Story.

I’ve been following Jade’s story for a while now and trying to imagine what my senior year of high school would be like if the world was facing a global pandemic and a racial outcry for justice. Being a young black woman during this is time is absolutely pivotal to our future and I am so proud to know this young lady because she carries herself with grace beyond her years.

I see a ton of Senior Sessions with girls smiling against a studio backdrop and even some with teenagers at their favorite Starbucks but I can really appreciate Jade’s session because she chose to o it in her home town in front of locally owned shops including Cannon Coffee who pride themselves in having Uncomfortable Conversation to bring awareness to their community. Jade was so excited shoot in front of the BLACK LIVES MATTER painted windows of their shop as her mom exclaimed how passionate she was of the movement.

I am also extremely grateful to her mother

for so many reasons, but for this blog’s sake, I am so elated to see a mother and daughter bond that’s this authentic and honest. We included her mother not only because she was our stylist for the day but because of the huge role that she plays in Jade’s life. She is a massive support structure thats always there to encourage and uplift her, and we just need more of that in the world.

Empowered Women Empower Women.

That quote has been floating in my head a lot lately and as a Girl-Mom, I just want to push this message until it rings in your ears. So I challenge you today to do two things.

  1. Find a Woman

  2. Empower Her

Thanks.

Love Deeply.
