Select a Creative Concept

Having a general idea of what you would like your Styled Engagement Session to look like can be a very important step in the planning process. Your first things to consider may be Your Theme, What to Wear, When to Schedule your Session, and Possible Shooting Location(s) . You have the opportunity to create a session that has never been done before, get creative!

Include your Wedding Vendors

If you’re having some trouble narrowing down your concept ideas, brainstorm with some of your wedding vendors. Your photographer and wedding planner are great resources (Use Them!). Not only might they have some interesting ideas but they could possibly have a styled shoot on their schedule that they could invite you to be a part of so all of the beautiful decor, venue space and special details will already be there. All you have to do as a couple is show up photo-ready. This is also a great time to reach out to your make-up artist and hair stylist for a trial session. As one last tip for this section of the blog, you can check with your other vendors (like your florist or baker) to see if they have any additional specials for brides who are already booked with them because a flower crown or a mini cake are always sweet little additions to your session.

Make it your Own and Enjoy

Being stylish is great but being authentic and purposeful is much more meaningful in the long run. Remember that your relationship is not a fad but something that is special and timeless. We believe that your engagement session should reflect that and your photos should echo the feelings that you feel for each other in this stage of your lives together. For this session, Danielle chose to wear her grandmothers fur shoulder shrug to make her session feel more personable. Her grandmother is not able to attend her wedding but she’s deciding to keep her spirit close to her throughout her entire wedding planning process. Showing this off in her session is a reminder of that love and makes these photos even more special.
