Keys to Having an Intimate Wedding | Ellicott City Wedding Photographers
Travelers, Introverts, Happy
During one of our first interactions with Tara and Dan they told us that these three words briefly define who they are. After their wedding, we’re happy to report that not only is it true but they’re wedding reflected that and because it was so true to who they really are the whole day felt extremely authentic!
Here’s what we can learn from these two in regards to having an Authentic and Intimate Wedding.
Choose the Perfect Wedding Venue
We know this is usually the first step in the wedding planning process. So you may already have this checked off your to-do list but if not, this is one of the core decisions you’ll have to make that really shape your day. Tara and Dan chose Main Street Ballroom because that venue allowed them to have both their ceremony and reception under one roof and they have access to it all through the day! Not only was it convenient but the space is perfect for the amount of guests that they were expecting. You can see more weddings at Main Street Ballroom, Here. (We highly recommend this venue)
Include Details that Reflect Who You Are
Remember we mentioned that these two were travelers? Well they decorated their venue with photos of themselves in different countries all around the world. They even had a vintage suitcase with a globe and their favorite books out for guests to see.
Serve Delicious Food (andDrinks)
Speaking of personal details, they also showed this off in their dinner selection. They had different courses of entree from different parts of the world at different stations throughout the venue. Each dinner station showcased a different part of the world that you could visit and taste. Very cool idea!
Play Good Music
Their friends and family had such a good time dancing with each other, The music was a perfect mix for the family and friends. A little something for everyone is a key to making sure your guests are up partying and having fun with each other.
Invite Only your Closest friends and Family
The people you feel comfortable around that you can just be yourself around. These are the people you definitely want at your party…err I mean Wedding. When Garrett and I were planning our wedding, we had a rule when creating our guest list. If we didn’t talk or see that person in the last year, they did not make the cut. This “rule” could help you decide who really should be there or not. It’s ok to be choosey during this process.
Have an Intimate Team of Photographers
Your choice in photographers is arguable just as important as your guest list. Since were doing KEYS TO HAVING AN INTIMATE WEDDING we need to recommend that you choose a photographer or photography team that you feel comfortable around and someone who you can trust. Shameless Plug coming… We would recommend US :D Not only because we’re a husband and Wife team who has been photographing couples deeply in love for the past 5 years but because we totally relate to introverts! We both enjoy being on the other side of the camera for a reason lol But really, we have an idea how you’re feeling and for a couple who’s been through it before, we really really want to help make your the photography aspect of your day flow as seamless as possible. We want to take care of you guys and capture your day photo-journalistically as well as a little editorially (no pressure)
