How to Choose Your Bridal Party | DC Wedding Photographers Megapixels Media
Remember Kendra and Andrew,
The couple who prays together? (Read about them here) Welll they’re married now! And it was great to see the mindful relationship that they have with each other, they also share with their bridal party. They inspired us to write a blog, while sharing some of their wedding photos, about how to choose the perfect people to include in your wedding party.
Some people feel obligated to choose their sister or brother to be their maid of honor or best man; or to include their spouse’s sibling as a bridesmaid or groomsmen…but we just want to say that you really don’t have to. It’s your day and from experience, we can share that this is not always the best. In this post we are going to share who you should definitely choose to be a part of your day…
Your Bridal Party should consist of
people who have your best interest at heart. I know that sounds obvious, but really, being a bridesmaid or a groomsman is a selfless position in a wedding. Leave your selfish friends out. We’ve seen it so many times…a bride freaking out because no one around her is actually helping her out. For example: A Bride trying to put her dress on herself while her bridesmaids are taking selfies or a the Bride being left alone in a time need before the ceremony. These are all real life examples. You need support leading up to that day. You’re going to want your bridal party to be able to help you throughout your wedding planning process and through your wedding day. This is a talk you should have with your girls/guys before having them officially on board.
Your Bridal Party is going to be your cheerleaders for the day. It helps if the people you choose for your party are Positive, Helpful and Outgoing.
Luckily for this couple, they had a wonderful support system and they were all hands on deck the whole day. Good Team!
Your Wedding Party should be
people who your trust and feel comfortable around. As photographers we try our best to make sure that you feel comfortable in front of our lens so that your photos show your true and authentic selves. But sometimes we need a little help, sometimes the people in the room effect the way you feel and that shows in your photos. Do your self a favor and only invite people who you can be yourself around to be in your close circle.
Emotions run high on wedding days, it helps to have someone on your team who knows how to have fun and can always make you laugh. it’s ok not to be serious the whole day through.
So in Conclusion
People on your team should be: Selfless, helpful, fun, positive, outgoing, and comforting.
